Q: What kind of orchestra is the Wokingham Philharmonic?
A: The Wokingham Philharmonic is an amateur orchestra with a friendly and supportive vibe. Rehearsals are focused and fun - expect to make new friends!
Q: What kind of repertoire do you perform?
A: We perform a diverse range of the orchestral repertoire selected to challenge our musicians and hopefully delight our audiences spanning everything from dramatic Romantic symphonies to lively operatic overtures and light classical gems.
Q: Do you perform live concerts?
A: Yes we aim to perform 2 or 3 concerts per year at a local venue in Wokingham
Q: What standard is required to join the orchestra?
A: We aim for grade 7 and above but if you are interested in joining please get in touch!
Q: Do you have auditions?
A: No there are no auditions
Q: Are there currently any vacancies?
A: Yes there are vacancies for violins and violas in particular but please get in touch if you are interested in joining, we can often make space for new players
Q: When and where do rehearsals take place?
A: Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings during term time, from 7.30 to 9.00 PM at Windmill Primary School, Fernlea Dr, Wokingham RG41 3DR
Q: Is there easy parking?
A: Yes, the rehearsal venue has parking and Morrison's also allow us to use their free car park adjacent to the school as an overflow if necessary
Q: Do I need to pay a membership fee to join?
A: Yes the standard annual subscription is currently £180 with a concessionary annual subscription of £120 for those in full time education or on benefits. You can come and try us out first though!
Q: Are there many younger players?
A: We currently have a great mix of young, "senior" and everything in between!

Q: Where is the normal concert venue?
A: Our concerts are normally held at All Saints Church in the heart of Wokingham (London Road, Wokingham, RG40 1TN)
Q: How do I buy tickets for concerts?
A: Tickets can be bought online via the website. Once a concert is announced, tickets are available here
Q: How much are concert tickets typically?
A: Tickets are normally £15 for adults and £5 for under 16's
